A quiet weekend getaway in Blue Ridge, Georgia

I visited the Blue Ridge Mountains back in February, right before all hell broke loose and everyone’s world imploded. Albeit I’ll admit, right before the pandemic I could feel myself pushing through burn out- physically and mentally exhausted from juggling an overly demanding photography career, traveling every single weekend, being a good friend, a solid support system at home, squeezing in what time I had left to feed myself and sleep. I went from cooking every meal from scratch to opting for vegan canned chili and take out. One hour workouts 5 days a week turned into 30 minute runs once every weekend…. I. needed. a break.

Luckily one of my best friends wanted to celebrate her birthday quietly in the mountains this year so a few of us came along for the weekend away from the city. We drove just an hour and a half north of Atlanta to the mountains of Blue Ridge, Georgia where we arrived to our massive cabin. Growing up I spent a great deal of time in the mountains, as for a while my family used to take yearly trips up to Pigeon Forge in the winter for cabin stays, and I must say of all the cabins I’ve stayed in this one ranked high on the list. The property was beautifully decorated with thoughtful details- from the branch table lamps, to the bear key holder, to every single possible kitchen appliance & tool you’d need to make your dream meal, this home had it all.

Upon walking up to the cabin, you’ll notice the gorgeous wrap around porch which offers sweeping views of Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. We spent countless hours outside lounging on the patio doing wholesome activities like morning yoga and roasting s’mores by the fireplace.

We also spent a great deal of time downstairs where the game room was located, which offers a Shuffleboard table, Bumper pool, and an archade machine. At sun down we’d take to the jacuzzi on the lower deck for happy hour where we sipped and cracked jokes until it was time for dinner.

With the pandemic spurring the need for a more nature driven travel and/or work remote experiences that are off the beaten path, I thought I’d start getting to updating my blog with all the pandemic approved (now in hind sight) trips I’ve yet to document on this blog that I’ve experienced over the last year, and that I just might relive soon. Feel free to preview my Blue Ridge, GA stories for videos of this property as well as other hidden gems in the Blue Ridge Mountains that you’d want to add to your pandemic travel bucket list.
