Style that Speaks | International Women's Day

The past few weeks I've been suffering from major artist's block, and I'm not sure if it's because I'm overwhelmed with school, a full time job, content building, blogging, and my personal life. But I thought it was really important to write something now, because today the world celebrates something I am truly passionate about- feminism.  For those of you that think it's ridiculous a day like this even exists, then explain why women are still blamed for rapes? Or why at the current rate it will take approximately 80 years for the gender gap to close? Or why women are overwhelmingly made to feel unsafe online?

It's important to recognize that yes, although we have come a long way since the first International Women's Day in 1909, we still have a very long way to go. And I think as women it's important to continue empowering and inspiring each other, just like many of you have inspired me.

So cheers to all the women in my life who have pushed me, inspired me, and continue to remind me why my voice matters- not because I am a woman, but because I am HUMAN. I promise to bring more to the table now more than ever, because you deserve it.

A huge thank you to Kelly Rostran- The inspiring woman behind the lense of these photos taken at the West Elm Blogger's event    Check out her folio at http://www.kellyrostran.com/
